MUSTARD Baby Greens

Mustard Baby Greens - super easy to grow. I have used several sources for seeds, and my most recent is an online source called Food To Live.. I used Amazon.com and got free shipping. My purchase was for a 5 pound bag of organic mustard seed. This was the yellow mustard seed variety. My cost was $15.00 even or $3.00/pound. Brown Mustard seeds tend to be a little more expensive than yellow. Shop around you may find a better price.

Start Method: I would not start mustard seeds with the mason jar method, as they get extremely gelatinous, sitting in water. I would start mustard seeds in either a good quality potting soil, or you can try the plain paper towel method, (I have had good success with both methods) and grow them to macrogreen/baby green stage. Be sure to spray mist them min of 1 time each day, and up to 2 times as temps become warmer, (above 70F) things dry out much quicker. If you're using a small fan for good air circulation, then definitely a good spray mist at least twice each day.

My mustard seeds generally have a sprout tail by the 2nd day. Room air temp is about 72-75F in Winter months. As with any seeds that I buy, regardless of where my source is.. I generally wash/rinse them out of the package!
